Jokko9 Privacy Policy

Introduction

Jokko9 (the "App") is a free utility that updates saved phone numbers on your device from the old 7-digit Gambian format to the new 9-digit format. It was developed by Sulayman Colley, Mamadou Bah and Alassan Saine, final-year Computer Science students at the University of The Gambia, and is published with the support of TeranGO.

This page explains how the App handles your information. In short: it does not collect any.

Information We Collect

None. Jokko9 does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. Specifically, the App does not collect:

• Names, phone numbers, or contact details
• Account or profile information — the App has no sign-up or login
• Location data
• Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
• Usage statistics, analytics, or crash reports
• Payment information — the App is free and contains no purchases

How Your Contacts Are Used

The App requests permission to read and modify your contacts. This permission is used for one purpose only: to find phone numbers saved in the old 7-digit format and rewrite them in the new 9-digit format, so that you can keep calling and messaging the people you already know after the national migration.

• Contacts are read directly from your device's own contact store and processed in the device's memory.
• Updated numbers are written straight back to your device's contact store.
• Nothing is copied to a server, a cloud service, a file, or any third party.
• You review and confirm the changes before they are applied. You are always in control of which numbers are updated.

You can decline or revoke the contacts permission at any time in your device settings. Without it the App cannot perform its function, but no other part of your device is affected.

The App Has No Internet Access

Jokko9 is built to work completely offline. On Android, the App is published without the INTERNET permission at all — it is technically incapable of sending data off your device, and you can verify this yourself in the App's permission list on the Google Play listing. The App contains no networking code, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no advertising SDKs.

Data Sharing

We do not share your information with anyone, because we never receive it in the first place. There are no third-party service providers, no advertisers, and no data brokers involved in the App.

We never sell your personal information.

Data Retention

Because no data is collected, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Any settings the App stores — such as your progress through the migration — remain on your device and are removed when you uninstall the App.

Data Security

Your contact data never leaves your device, which removes the most common risks entirely: there is no server to breach, no account to compromise, and no transmission to intercept. The Android build is hardened in line with OWASP MASVS guidance, with backup of App data disabled and unnecessary permissions stripped from the App package.

Your Rights

Since no personal data is collected, there is no data for you to access, correct, export, or have erased. You retain full control over your contacts at all times through your device's own settings, and you may revoke the App's contacts permission or uninstall the App whenever you wish.

Children's Privacy

The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. As it collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
